Photography Community Mourns the Death of Cornell Capa (Memorial Information)

The entire Photography community mourns the death of Cornell Capa, who passed away early this morning, Friday, May 23rd.  As a renowned photographer, as the founder of the International Fund for Concerned Photography, and the founder of ICP in 1974, Cornell was a singular force in the world of photography, opening our eyes to the power of the photographic image as an agent of change. ICP and photographers everywhere are his lasting legacy.
 
Burial will be Wednesday, May 28th at 2 p.m. at the Friends Cemetery in Amawalk, New York. [See below for details.]
 
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 10th at 10 a.m. at The Times Center at 242 West 41st Street between 7th & 8th Avenues.
 
Contributions in Cornell’s memory may be made to the “Cornell Capa Legacy Project” at ICP.

FUNERAL INFORMATION
The Capa burial will be held at 2 p.m. at the Capa family grave site. It is preceded by a lunch at 1 p.m. and followed by a Friends meeting all on the premises:

(Near Yorktown Heights in Westchester County)
 

By car, take the Taconic Parkway North to Route 202 East; proceed approximately 3 miles and make a left on Quaker Church Road.  Driving time from the Upper East Side or Upper West Side is approximately 70 minutes.
 
Proceed a few hundred yards on Quaker Church Road and turn left into the Amawalk Hill Cemetery, which is immediately south of the Amawalk Friends Meeting.  Please park in the Amawalk Hill Cemetery parking area and walk approximately 100 yards to the graveside.  If you wish, you may drive all the way to the graveside to drop passengers before returning to park near the entrance.
 
Please wear comfortable shoes and cover up for deer ticks.
